    Members of Unifor Local 4304 have voted to accept a three-year agreement with The Region of Waterloo. A special meeting of Regional Council will take place in the coming days for final ratification of the agreement.

  • Region and Unifor Local 4304 reach tentative agreement

    The Region of Waterloo and Unifor Local 4304 have reached a tentative agreement. Transit services will continue uninterrupted, pending ratification by union members on Sunday, May 3.

    Waterloo Region – Grand River Transit is launching a discounted 2‑ride fare card pilot to help eligible community agencies in Waterloo Region reduce transportation barriers for clients. As part of the 2026 budget process, Regional Council approved $25,000 for this year’s pilot program.

    Waterloo Region – GRT’s Connect-to-GO program will now cover free transfers to GO buses, not just GO trains, starting April 1.Expansion of the program improves connectivity and access beyond Waterloo Region for GRT customers.

  • Regional Council approves extending light rail to Cambridge

    Waterloo Region - Region of Waterloo Council has approved extending light rail from Fairway Station to downtown Cambridge, marking a significant milestone toward connecting residents across the community with rapid transit. “Council's decision represents a major step in delivering the original vision for rapid transit, which was a continuous connection from Waterloo to Kitchener to Cambridge,” said Region of Waterloo Chair Karen Redman.
