Waterloo Region – Transit customers can buy summer and monthly passes using the GRT Pay mobile app, making it even easier to ride transit throughout the region this summer.

Summer passes will be available starting June 8. July monthly passes can be purchased starting June 25. Passes can be used on GRT buses, ION trains and MobilityPLUS vehicles, as well as Kiwanis Transit.

“Taking transit to get around Waterloo Region just got easier and just in time for summer festivals and events,” said Karen Redman, Chair of the Region of Waterloo. “Expanding GRT fare products in the app makes transit more convenient and accessible. It also helps encourage more residents to choose a sustainable way to travel.”

Since the launch of GRT Pay, customers have purchased more than 700,000 fare products through the app. On average, the app supports about 75,000 rides each month.

As a reminder for customers, GRT fares will not increase on July 1, 2026. Fare prices will remain unchanged this year.

New users can download GRT Pay from Google Play or the Apple App Store.

GRT Pay continues to be integrated with the Transit app. Transit app users can buy passes within the app without downloading GRT Pay.
