Applications now open for the Region of Waterloo's 2026 Community Environmental Fund

Waterloo Region –The Region of Waterloo is pleased to announce the launch of the 2026 Community Environmental Fund (CEF), a grant program dedicated to supporting community-led environmental projects that foster stewardship, sustainability, and positive environmental impact.

Since its establishment in 2011, the CEF has granted nearly $2 million to over 250 projects, leveraging significant additional funding and community involvement. Projects eligible for the fund focus on enhancing natural areas, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, conserving energy, and promoting long-term environmental awareness.

Applications for the 2026 funding cycle will be accepted from February 17, 2026, to March 13, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. Grants typically range from $1,000 to $10,000 per project, with funding available to non-profits, community groups, individuals (with collaboration agreements), private landowners, and municipalities.
