Construction notice: Bleams Road extension, Kitchener, April–June 2025
Manitou Drive to Wilson Avenue
Project update
The Region of Waterloo is continuing to construct the Bleams Road extension from Manitou Drive to Wilson Avenue in Kitchener. This year’s work includes adding concrete curb and final asphalt to the new road and bridge, multi-use paths on both sides of the road, new lighting and underground infrastructure upgrades.
Last year’s work included the construction of a new bridge over Schneider Creek and a new roundabout at the Wilson Avenue and Goodrich Drive intersection.
Timing — starts April 21
Construction will start on April 21 and go until June 2025. The new road extension will be fully open by July 2025.
Lane reductions
Bleams Road and Manitou Drive roundabout will be reduced to a single lane during this work. Two-way traffic will be maintained on Bleams Road and Manitou Drive.
There may be periods during construction when traffic will need to travel on a gravel surface, as well as times when traffic will need to be controlled by staff. Please plan for some delays and travel carefully in the construction zone.
Pedestrian access
The sidewalks in this area will remain accessible during the project. Pedestrians should follow the signs as they walk around the site.
Business access
Businesses within the construction area remain open and accessible during construction. Every effort will be made to maintain access to driveways in the construction area during working hours (7 a.m.–7 p.m.).
