Lancaster Street to Tyson Drive

About the project

The Region of Waterloo is completing maintenance work on the Bridgeport Bridge in Kitchener. This work includes small concrete repairs and applying a protective coating to parts of the bridge.

Timing — starts July 10, 2025

Construction will start on or around July 10 and finish in September 2025.

Lane reductions

The bridge will remain open to two-way traffic throughout this work. Temporary lane reductions will occur during some of the work. During these lane closures, traffic will be controlled by flag persons on the bridge and at the Bridge Street and Lancaster Road roundabout. These will only take place during off-peak hours between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

With scheduled lane closures, please plan for some delays and travel carefully around the construction zone. We request that when driving or walking through and around the construction zone you follow and obey the construction traffic signage for your safety and for the safety of the workers.

Emergency Services (Police, Fire, Paramedics) as well as the City of Kitchener have been notified of the construction, and lane closures to minimize any disruptions to services.

Pedestrian access

At least one sidewalk on the bridge will be open for pedestrians at all times. Please follow the signs as you walk through the construction site.
