About the project
The Region of Waterloo is improving Fairway Road between Lackner Boulevard and Pebblecreek Drive in Kitchener. This work includes:
- Replacing the sidewalk with a new multi-use path on the north side of the street
- Removing the traffic island at Lackner Boulevard
- Reconfiguring the sidewalk ramps and pavement markings at the intersections
- Relocating light poles
- Installing signage
- Landscaping
These improvements will make it easier and safer for pedestrians and cyclists to get around in this area.
Timing — starts July 2, 2025
Construction will be from the first week of July through August 2025. Working hours will be Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with occasional weekend work if necessary.
Lane reductions
Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times during construction. Lanes will be temporarily reduced during some stages of the work.
There may be periods during construction when traffic will need to travel on a gravel surface, as well as times when traffic will need to be controlled with flag persons.
Pedestrian access
The sidewalk on the south side of Fairway Road will remain accessible during the project. Pedestrians should follow the signs as they walk through the site.
