Construction notice: West Montrose Covered Bridge, Woolwich, August 2025–December 2026

About the project

The Region of Waterloo is rehabilitating the West Montrose Covered Bridge in Woolwich. This project includes replacing worn-out wood, the roof and siding, removing the old steel support, repairing the bridge foundation and strengthening key parts of the structure. Height restriction bars will also be installed at both approaches to stop oversized vehicles from crossing the bridge.

This rehabilitation will ensure the bridge remains safe, structurally sound, and preserved as an important historic Regional landmark for many years to come.

Timing — starts August 13, 2025

Construction will start on or around August 13, 2025, and is expected to be complete by the end of December 2026.
