Construction update: Ira Needles Boulevard/Erbsville Road and Erb Street W, Waterloo, September 19, 20 and 22, 2025
Project update
As part of the roundabout pedestrian safety pilot, we are doing the final asphalt paving on the Ira Needles Boulevard/Erbsville Road and Erb Street W roundabout in Waterloo. This work will require three overnight closures of the roads surrounding this intersection.
This location received raised crosswalks, button activated flashing lights, storm sewer upgrades and improved lighting and curb.
Timing — September 19, 20 and 22
The final asphalt paving will happen overnight from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. on September 19, 20 and 22.
Closures
Ira Needles Boulevard/Erbsville Road from Chablis Drive to Thorndale Drive will be closed overnight on Friday September 19 and Saturday September 20.
Erb Street West from Notre Dame Drive to Westcroft Drive will be closed overnight on Monday September 22.

September 19 and 20: Ira Needles Boulevard/Erbsville Road
Northbound traffic: University Avenue W > Fischer-Hallman Road > Erb Street W
Southbound traffic: Columbia Street W > Fischer-Hallman Road > Erb Street W
September 22: Erb Street W
Eastbound traffic: Notre Dame Drive > Snyder’s Road E > Ira Needles Boulevard
Westbound traffic: Fischer-Hallman Road > University Avenue W > Ira Needles Boulevard
Pedestrian access
The sidewalks in this area will remain accessible during this work. Pedestrians should follow the signs as they walk through the site.
