The Region of Waterloo is reviewing how it responds to groundwater interference claims from private well owners. This review focuses specifically on the claim and appeal process, including how concerns are assessed, how decisions are made, and what happens when interference is identified. 

The Region is seeking feedback from private well owners, potentially affected residents and other interested community members to help shape a process that is fair, transparent and responsive to the needs of our community.

The revised draft policy incorporates feedback from the community, reflects best practices, and considers similar policies from other municipalities. A final draft policy will be brought to Council in September.

Participants will learn more about the updated draft policy, how ground water interference is assessed, and have an opportunity to share feedback on potential improvements.
