New webpages keep residents updated on Regional construction projects

Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo has revised its website to offer residents an easier, more accessible way to stay informed about ongoing Regional road, water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

The new site features an interactive map of active projects, individual project pages with clear and up-to-date information as projects move through different phases and a news feed with the latest construction notices.

“We want to continue to be transparent about the work we’re doing to improve the infrastructure that is so vital to this community,” said Colleen James, Regional Councillor and Chair of the Sustainability, Infrastructure and Development Committee. “This site makes it easier for residents to find important information about our capital projects from planning studies through design and construction.”

Key features of the new site:

  • Interactive map: A dynamic GIS tool that allows users to quickly locate and learn about infrastructure projects in various stages, from planning studies through design and construction.
  • Project pages: Each active project has a webpage featuring clear and up-to-date details. These pages can now be personalized through the Region’s PageAssist toolbar (found through the purple icon on the bottom left) and translated through Google Translate.
  • Construction news feed: A dedicated feed featuring public notices, news releases, and important updates specific to the Region’s construction projects.
  • User-friendly navigation: This new section can easily be accessed through the “Living Here” menu on the Region’s website.
  • New online form: An additional option to calling the Region’s Service First Contact Centre, residents can use the online form to share non-urgent issues or concerns related to the Region’s road, water and wastewater construction projects.
