Noxious Weeds Public Notice
Notice is hereby given to all persons in possession of land that, as per sections 3,16, and 23 of the Weed Control Act, all noxious weeds must be destroyed on said land and managed throughout the growing season.
If no action is taken by June 15, 2026, Provincial Weed Inspectors may enter onto said lands and have the weeds destroyed, charging costs against the landowner.
The purpose of the Weed Control Act is to reduce the destructive impact of noxious weeds on the horticultural and agricultural industries, including damage to livestock and agricultural workers.
Be aware, some noxious weeds pose a serious threat to humans and must be handled with caution. This may include the use of personal protective equipment. If in doubt of how to handle noxious weeds, please consult your local horticulturalist or lawn care company.
Please note that the Region of Waterloo is responsible for enforcing the Weed Control Act within Woolwich, Wilmot, Wellesley, and North Dumfries townships. The municipalities of Kitchener, Cambridge, and Waterloo are responsible for enforcement within their respective cities.
