Region of Waterloo Library unveils 2026-2029 Service Delivery Plan: Connecting residents to each other, and to the world of ideas (1)

Waterloo Region, Ontario – The Region of Waterloo Library (RWL) is thrilled to announce the release of its 2026-2029 Service Delivery Plan, a guiding document for how the library serves residents across the community. The plan is crafted with valuable input gathered from nearly 1,000 community members in 2024 through online surveys, in-person discussion and focus groups.

“In collaboration with the townships, community partners, and the library team, this plan enhances library services across 11 township branches in the Waterloo Region,” said Natasha Salonen, Chair of the Library Committee. “Over the next four years, RWL will continue to evolve and innovate to meet the changing needs of our communities. We welcome residents and visitors to stay curious and explore the resources and opportunities available at their nearest township library branch.”

The RWL Service Delivery Plan is built around five main focus areas:

  1. Welcoming Spaces: Our libraries will continue to provide inclusive and inviting spaces for everyone. We are dedicated to making sure our buildings are accessible and meet the high standards of a growing community.
  2. Service Excellence: Our staff are the heart of our service, renowned for their friendliness and knowledge. We pledge to maintain the highest service standards, ensuring every visitor feels valued and connects easily with the resources they need.
  3. Diverse Collections: We offer a wide range of books, resources, and unique materials that reflect the interests and languages of our community. Our collections are designed to inspire learning and celebrate diversity.
  4. Dynamic Programs: From early literacy for children to lifelong learning for adults, our programs are free and tailored to enrich the lives of residents. We’re committed to offering a variety of activities that foster community engagement and social connections.
  5. Evolving Technology: In today’s digital world, technology access and education are vital. We provide reliable internet, public computers, and digital resources to ensure everyone can benefit from online opportunities.
