Region of Waterloo Museums and Archives introduce new Community Membership for charities and not-for-profits
Waterloo Region – New for 2026, the Region of Waterloo Museums and Archives have introduced a Community Membership created specifically for charities and registered not-for-profits.
The membership can be purchased by an organization and shared across the organization. It offers self-guided admission for a flat rate of $60 per year + HST, with no limit on the number of people who can use it or the number of visits.
“The Community Membership helps reduce barriers to admission for equity-deserving groups and expands access to the museums we operate on behalf of the community,” said Karen Redman, Chair of the Region of Waterloo. “Charities and not-for-profit organizations play a vital role in supporting residents across Waterloo Region. This membership makes it easier for their staff, volunteers, and the people they serve to enjoy local history and cultural experiences. We are committed to creating welcoming, inclusive spaces—and this is one more way we can broaden participation and strengthen community connection.”
Proof of charitable and/or not-for-profit status is required. Membership and benefits include:
- Monthly e-newsletter with advance notices and invitations to special events and exhibit openings
- Free, unlimited admission to all Region of Waterloo–operated museum sites:
- Doon Heritage Village (Reopening July 1, 2026)
- Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum
- McDougall Cottage Historic Site
- Schneider Haus National Historic Site
- 10% gift shop discount at the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum and Schneider Haus
- 10% discount at Hazel’s Snack Bar at the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum
Some of our sites are small, especially McDougall Cottage and Schneider Haus. Groups of 10 or more are encouraged to call ahead to the museum they plan to visit so staff can help ensure the best experience.
Please note: This membership does not apply discounts to ticketed events or event venue rentals. Charitable and/or not-for-profit organizations will continue to receive a community discount on Region of Waterloo Museums and Archives room rentals.
