Region of Waterloo Speed Camera Program Expands to New Location

Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo’s Municipal Speed Camera program to support safer neighbourhoods and school zones has expanded. Additional cameras will be activated in neighbourhoods across Waterloo Region beginning March 3, 2025.

To help make neighbourhoods safer for walking, rolling and cycling, the following school zones have speed cameras installed effective March 3, 2025:

  • MacGregor Public School, Central Street, Waterloo
  • Sir Adam Beck Public School, Snyder's Road, Baden
  • Sandhills Public School / St. Dominic Savio, Victoria Street, Kitchener
  • New Dundee Public School, Bridge Street, New Dundee
  • St. Clement Catholic Elementary School, Lobsinger Line, within St. Clements
  • St. Nicholas Catholic School, Laurelwood Drive, Waterloo
  • Wellesley Public School, Queen's Bush Road, Wellesley

Speed cameras are a proven method of reducing vehicle speeds in neighbourhoods, leading to better outcomes in the event of a collision. Locations are reviewed and assessed by Area Municipal and Regional Staff, with a focus on school zones and high-community use areas.
