Regional Council approves agreement with CUPE Local 1656
Waterloo Region – Regional Council has approved a three-year agreement with CUPE Local 1656.
“On behalf of Regional Council, I want to express our gratitude to the teams that worked diligently over the past number of weeks,” said Regional Chair Karen Redman. “We look forward to welcoming all employees back to work. They are part of the Region team and they provide services that we know our community depends on.”
“CUPE Local 1656 members provide critical services to residents every day,” said Mathieu Goetzke, acting chief administrative officer for The Region of Waterloo. “Having a full Region of Waterloo team back together will ensure we can provide uninterrupted service to residents. I, along with the rest of the corporate leadership team, look forward to welcoming employees back to work.”
Regional Waste Management locations in Cambridge and Waterloo will reopen to the public on Saturday, March 29.
