Regional service changes for Easter weekend 2026
Waterloo Region – Here’s a list of Region of Waterloo service changes for the Easter weekend (Friday, April 3 to Monday, April 6).
Administration Offices
- All Regional administrative offices (99 Regina St. S. in Waterloo, 150 Frederick St. in Kitchener, 150 Main St. in Cambridge, Airport Administrative, Home Child Care offices) are closed Friday and Monday.
Warming spaces
- Warming spaces will be open at: 150 Main Street (Cambridge) from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and 150 Frederick Street (Kitchener) from 10:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Garbage, organics and yard waste collection
- Regular curbside waste collection set for Friday, April 3, will continue. Please have all items to the curb by 7 a.m.
- Transfer stations for residential drop-off at both the Cambridge and Waterloo Waste Management sites will be closed on Friday and Monday.
Grand River Transit
- GRT is operating on a holiday service schedule on Good Friday. Holiday service is noted on all route schedules.
- MobilityPLUS service will operate. For customers with subscription trips, those trips for Good Friday will be automatically cancelled. MobilityPLUS customers can rebook those trips in advance by calling 519-744-2241.
- GRT will operate regularly scheduled service on Easter Monday.
- GRT customer service locations at 35 Ainslie St. S., Cambridge, 105 King St. E., Kitchener, and 250 Strasburg Rd., Kitchener, will be closed on Friday, Sunday and Monday.
Home child care
- Offices will be closed. Licensed care will operate as specified by your provider
- For urgent issues, call 519-575-4400 and ask for Home Child Care
Region of Waterloo International Airport
- Administration offices at the airport will be closed, but airport operations will not be affected
Region of Waterloo Libraries
- All library branches will be closed on Friday, April 3 and Monday, April 6.
Region of Waterloo Museums
- Schneider Haus will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- McDougall Cottage Historic Site will be open on April 3, 4 and 6 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on April 5 from 12 to 5 p.m.
Seniors’ Services
- Administration for Sunnyside Seniors’ Services and the Sunnyside Wellness Centre will be closed.
- Community Alzheimer Day Programs and the Young Onset Dementia Association will be closed.
- The Seniors’ Services Overnight Stay Program will be open.
Welcome Spaces
- Welcome Spaces at 99 Regina St. S. in Waterloo, 20 Weber St. E. in Kitchener, and 150 Main St. in Cambridge will be closed.
