Regional service changes for Labour Day 2026

Waterloo RegionHere is a list of Region of Waterloo service changes for Labour Day on Monday, September 7, 2026.

Administrative offices  

  • All Regional administrative offices (99 Regina St. S. in Waterloo, 150 Frederick St. in Kitchener, 150 Main St. in Cambridge, Airport Administrative, Home Child Care offices) will be closed. 

Cooling spaces  

  • The Cooling Space will be open at 150 Main Street (Cambridge) from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

Black garbage cart, green organics cart and yard waste collection 

  • There is no planned curbside collection on Monday, September 7.  
  • Transfer stations for residential drop-off at both the Cambridge and Waterloo Waste Management sites will be closed.

Grand River Transit  

  • MobilityPLUS service will operate. For customers with subscription trips, those trips for September 7 will be automatically cancelled. MobilityPLUS customers can rebook in advance by calling 519-744-2241.  
  • GRT customer service locations will be closed.  

Home child care  

  • Licensed care will operate as specified by your provider.   
  • Offices will be closed.   
  • For urgent issues, call 519-575-4400 and ask for Home Child Care.  

Region of Waterloo International Airport  

  • Administration offices at the airport will be closed but airport operations will not be affected.   

Region of Waterloo libraries  

Region of Waterloo museums  

Region of Waterloo Public Health clinics  

  • Public Health Clinics at 99 Regina St. S. in Waterloo, 20 Weber St. E. in Kitchener, and 150 Main St. in Cambridge will be closed.  

Seniors’ Services  

  • Administration for Sunnyside Seniors’ Services will be closed.  

Service First Call Centre 

  • Remains open 24/7.  

Welcome Spaces  

  • Welcome Spaces at 99 Regina St. S. in Waterloo, 20 Weber St. E. in Kitchener, and 150 Main St. in Cambridge will be closed.
