Service changes for Victoria Day 2026
Waterloo Region – Here is a list of Region of Waterloo service changes for the Victoria Day holiday on Monday, May 18, 2026.
Administrative Offices
· All Regional administrative offices (99 Regina St. S. in Waterloo, 150 Frederick St. in Kitchener, 150 Main St. in Cambridge, Airport Administrative, Home Child Care Offices) will be closed.
Garbage, green bin and yard waste collection
· Transfer stations for residential drop-off at both the Cambridge and Waterloo Waste Management sites will be closed.
Grand River Transit
· GRT is operating on a holiday service schedule. Holiday service is noted on all route schedules.
· MobilityPLUS service will operate. For customers with subscription trips, those trips for Monday will be automatically cancelled. MobilityPLUS customers can rebook those trips in advance by calling 519-744-2241.
· GRT customer service locations will be closed
Home Child Care
· Licensed care will operate as specified by your provider.
· Offices will be closed.
· For urgent issues, call 519-575-4400 and ask for Home Child Care
Region of Waterloo International Airport
· Administration offices at the airport will be closed. Airport operations will not be affected.
Region of Waterloo Libraries
· All branches will be closed. For branch hours, please visit www.rwlibrary.ca
Region of Waterloo Museums
· The Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum and Schneider Haus National Historic Site will be open Monday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. McDougall Cottage Historic Site will be open from 12 to 4 p.m.
Seniors’ Services
· Administration for Sunnyside Seniors’ Services will be closed.
· The Sunnyside Wellness Centre will be closed.
· Community Alzheimer day programs in Kitchener, Cambridge and Waterloo will be closed. Overnight stay is open.
Service First Contact Centre
· Remains open 24/7
Welcome Spaces
· Welcome Spaces at 99 Regina St. S. in Waterloo, 20 Weber St. E. in Kitchener, and 150 Main St. in Cambridge will be closed.
