Transport Canada Navigable Waterways Notice for the G2G Pedestrian Bridge
Transport Canada’s Navigation Protection Program (NPP) administers the Canadian Navigable Waters Act (CNWA) which helps keep Canada’s navigable waters open for transport and recreation.
In accordance with requirements of the Canadian Navigable Waters Act, the Region of Waterloo hereby gives notice that an application has been submitted to the Minister of Transport for the below work(s):

Project Description: A pedestrian crossing over the Conestogo River on the Goderich to Guelph Rail Trail (G2G) will be constructed approximately 350m southwest of Line 86 in the Village of Wallenstein. This new bridge will be supported on the former railway bridge pier and abutments One (1) of three (3) existing piers will be rehabilitated to support the new pedestrian crossing. Access to the pier will be through a temporary causeway. Following construction the causeway will be removed and navigation in the Conestogo River will be returned to its’ previous condition.
