Construction notice: Myers Road and Lorraine Drive Raised Pedestrian Crossing, City of Cambridge, August 2024

About the project

The Region of Waterloo is installing a raised pedestrian crossing on Myers Road east of Lorraine Drive at the existing traffic signal. The raised pedestrian crossing includes pavement markings, signage, and a “speed hump” to provide greater visibility of the crossing area and help slow down traffic.

Timing — starts August 12, 2024

We are starting construction on August 12, 2024. The project is expected to be completed by August 30, 2024. Construction will happen Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. and occasional weekend/evening work may occur.

Closures

Myers Road between Lorraine Drive and Greenbrier Road will be fully closed to through traffic for the duration of the work. Only local access will be permitted.

Detour

The detour route for eastbound traffic is via Water Street South > McQueen Shaver Boulevard > Franklin Boulevard. The detour route for westbound traffic is via Franklin Boulevard > McQueen Shaver Boulevard > Water Street South.

Pedestrian access

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times on the sidewalk on the south side of Myers Road. Pedestrians should follow the signs as they walk near the site. Temporary detours / walkways around the work area will be required at times.

Property access

Every effort will be made to maintain access to residential driveways in the construction area during working hours (7 a.m.–7 p.m.). Construction activities may temporarily impact access to entrances. We will provide as much notice as possible in advance of any interruption.

Please plan for some delays and travel carefully in the construction zone. We request that when driving or walking through and around the construction zone, you follow and obey the construction traffic signage for your safety and for the safety of the workers.
