Project update

As part of the Sawmill Road improvements project, we will be closing the road from River Street to Snyder’s Flats Road, including the intersection with St. Charles St. W, on October 17, 18 and 21 to complete surface asphalt paving. The next steps in completing this road include line painting, landscape restoration and activating the new traffic signals at the Sawmill Road and Charles Street W intersection.  

Timing 

This work will be done over three days on October 17, 18 and 21. Working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

We expect this road to be finished by the end of October.

Closures

Sawmill Road will be closed to through traffic from River Street to Snyder’s Flats Road as well as the intersection of St. Charles Street West during this work. Only local access will be permitted. 

Detour

Crowsfoot Road — St. Charles Street West (26) — Shantz Station Road — Victoria Street North — Ebycrest Road.

There may be periods during construction when traffic will need to be controlled by crew on site.

Emergency Services (Police, Fire, Paramedics) have been notified of the construction, closures and detours to minimize any disruptions to services.

Pedestrian access

Pedestrians will continue to have access during construction. Please follow the signs posted.

Property and business access

All businesses in the area will remain open and accessible during construction. Every effort will be made to maintain access to residential driveways in the construction area during working hours (7 a.m.–7 p.m.). Construction activities may temporarily impact access to entrances.

Please plan for some delays and travel carefully in the construction zone. We request that when driving or walking through and around the construction zone you follow and obey the construction traffic signage for your safety and for the safety of the workers.
