Construction update: Victoria Street, Kitchener, October–November, 2025
Project update
As part of the Victoria Street improvements project, work is now beginning on the east side of the intersections at Victoria Street and Westmount Road, and Victoria Street and Fischer-Hallman Road.
The west side of the Westmount Road and Fischer-Hallman Road intersections will be back open when this work begins.
Timing — starts October 27
This next closure will begin on Monday, October 27 and go until the end of November.
This year’s work will wrap up in early December and start up again in the spring.
Closures
Victoria Street east of the Westmount Road and Fischer-Hallman Road intersections will be closed to through traffic.
Two-way traffic is being maintained on Westmount Road and Fischer-Hallman Road. Access to businesses can be made via Westmount Road.
Detour
Through traffic is being detoured through Belmont Avenue/Lawrence Avenue <> Highland Road West <> Fischer-Hallman Road.

Emergency Services (Police, Fire, Paramedics) have been notified of the construction, closures and detours to minimize any disruptions to services.
Pedestrian access
Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times, please follow the signs when walking or rolling through the construction site.
Access to the community trails and Henry Sturm Greenway/Fenwick Greenway will be maintained.
Grand River Transit impact
Temporary bus stops will be provided for routes 12, 20 and 201 as the work proceeds. Visit www.grt.ca/detours for more information and updates.
