More resources brought in for first week of new waste collection
Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo and Emterra brought in more resources to support the curbside waste collection program as it rolls out in its first week. All households receiving waste collection from the Region are receiving garbage and organics this week to offer a fresh start as the new program rolls out.
With this higher demand in the first week, more crews and trucks were brought in to help with the additional waste. Crews will be working on Saturday, March 7 to help with the delays. Residents who did not receive collection on Thursday or Friday can leave their carts out if they were not collected.
If residents were missed on Tuesday or Wednesday, they can fill out a form for it to be addressed.
Next week, the frequency will continue with garbage collection bi-weekly, organics weekly, bulky item monthly, yard waste bi-weekly (Spring to Fall), and recycling managed by Circular Materials is shifting to bi-weekly opposite of garbage.
Residents can confirm their schedule on the Region’s website, where they can also learn more about how to sort waste and how to set out the carts. Residents can also visit WasteWhiz online or the WasteWhiz app to sign up for collection schedule reminders and get more information.
