Region of Waterloo service changes for Family Day
Waterloo Region – Here’s a list of Region of Waterloo service changes for the Family Day holiday on Monday, February 16.
Administrative offices
- All Regional administrative offices (99 Regina St. S. in Waterloo, 150 Frederick St. in Kitchener, 150 Main St. in Cambridge, Airport Administrative) will be closed.
Warming spaces
- Warming spaces will be open at: 150 Main Street (Cambridge) from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and 150 Frederick Street (Kitchener) from 10:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
- Other warming spaces across the region will continue to be available during their scheduled business hours. Visit regionofwaterloo.ca/WarmingSpaces for locations and times.
- Overnight warming spaces will be open. Visit regionofwaterloo.ca/overnight-warming for more information.
Garbage and green bin collection
- Regular curbside waste collection.
- Transfer stations for residential drop-off at both the Cambridge and Waterloo Waste Management sites will be closed.
Grand River Transit
- Grand River Transit (GRT) will operate on a holiday service schedule, as noted on all route schedules.
- MobilityPLUS service will operate. For customers with subscription trips, those trips will be automatically cancelled. MobilityPLUS customers can rebook those trips in advance by calling 519-744-2241.
- GRT Customer Service Centres will be closed.
Home Child Care
- Offices will be closed. Licensed care will operate as specified by your provider.
- For urgent issues, call 519-575-4400 and ask for Home Child Care.
Public Health clinics
- Public Health Clinics will be closed.
Region of Waterloo International Airport
- Administration offices at the airport will be closed, but airport operations will not be affected.
Region of Waterloo Libraries
- All library branches will be closed.
Region of Waterloo Museums
- Schneider Haus will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- McDougall Cottage Historic Site will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Seniors’ Services
- Administration for Sunnyside Seniors’ Services and the Sunnyside Wellness Centre will be closed.
- Community Alzheimer Day Programs and the Young Onset Dementia Association will be closed.
- The Seniors’ Services Overnight Stay Program will be open.
Service First Call Centre
- Remains open 24/7.
Welcome Spaces
- Welcome Spaces at 99 Regina St. S. in Waterloo, 20 Weber St. E. in Kitchener, and 150 Main St. in Cambridge will be closed.
