Region shares transportation improvement options for Elmira
Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo is considering changes in Elmira to improve transportation options and support growth.
The improvements focus on changes to Arthur Street from King Street in Waterloo to Listowel Road in Elmira, as well as a potential new truck bypass.
The goal of the enhancements is to improve safety while making intersection improvements that will support active transportation.
A new truck bypass is also being considered to redirect trucks and other traffic away from Elmira’s downtown core and encourage a pedestrian-focused environment.
An in-person Public Consultation Centre will be held at the Community Centre Room at the Woolwich Memorial Centre, 24 Snyder Ave. S. on November 7, from 7 to 9 p.m. A presentation of the project will start at 7:30 p.m. and there will be an opportunity to share questions, comments and feedback.
The Notice of Study Commencement and a pre-recorded presentation is available on the EngageWR project page at www.engagewr.ca/arthur-street-and-bypass-ea.
