Regional service changes for Thanksgiving Monday
Waterloo Region – Here’s a list of Region of Waterloo service changes for Thanksgiving on Monday, October 13.
Administrative offices
- All Regional administrative offices (99 Regina St. S. in Waterloo, 150 Frederick St. in Kitchener, 150 Main St. in Cambridge, Airport Administrative, Home Child Care offices) will be closed.
Garbage, recycling, green bin and yard waste collection
- Pick up will not be affected. Regular curbside waste collection Monday. Please have all items to the curb by 7 a.m.
- Transfer stations for residential drop-off at both the Cambridge and Waterloo Waste Management sites will be closed Monday.
Grand River Transit
- GRT will operate on a holiday service schedule, as noted on all route schedules.
- MobilityPLUS service will operate. For customers with subscription trips, those trips for October 13 will be automatically cancelled. MobilityPLUS customers can rebook in advance by calling 519-744-2241.
- GRT Customer Service Centres at 35 Ainslie St. S., Cambridge; 105 King St. E., Kitchener; and 250 Strasburg Rd., Kitchener will be closed.
- Routes 1, 6, 8, 20, and 204 will be on detour during the Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Parade on October 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Home child care
- Licensed care will operate as specified by your provider.
- Offices will be closed.
- For urgent issues, call 519-575-4400 and ask for Home Child Care.
Region of Waterloo International Airport
- Administration offices at the airport will be closed but airport operations will not be affected.
Region of Waterloo libraries
- All branches will be closed. For branch hours, please visit www.rwlibrary.ca.
Region of Waterloo museums
- The Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum, Schneider Haus National Historic Site will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and McDougall Cottage Historic Site will be open from 12 to 4 p.m.
Region of Waterloo Public Health clinics
- Public Health Clinics at 99 Regina St. S. in Waterloo, 20 Weber St. E. in Kitchener, and 150 Main St. in Cambridge will be closed.
Seniors’ Services
- Administration for Sunnyside Seniors’ Services will be closed.
- The Sunnyside Wellness Centre will be closed.
- Community Alzheimer day programs in Kitchener, Cambridge and Waterloo will be closed. Overnight stay is open.
Service First Call Centre
- Remains open 24/7.
Welcome Spaces
- Welcome Spaces at 99 Regina St. S. in Waterloo, 20 Weber St. E. in Kitchener, and 150 Main St. in Cambridge will be closed.
