Shingletown Wells Iron and Manganese Treatment Upgrades

Municipal Class Environmental Assessment

 

The Region of Waterloo is currently undertaking a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) study for iron and manganese treatment upgrades for the Shingletown Wells (K50, K51 and K52).  The Shingletown Wells are located at 2324 Bleams Road in the Township of Wilmot and are an important part of the Region of Waterloo’s water supply. The Study will review and provide recommendations related to iron and manganese treatment upgrades based on current industry standards and technologies, as well as the location of potential upgrades.


 

How is this Study being undertaken?

This study is being undertaken as a Schedule ‘C’ project in accordance with the requirements of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (October 2000, as amended in 2007, 2011 and 2015), which is an approved process under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.

How can I participate in this Study?

Interested parties are invited to attend a virtual public consultation centre

The Region invites residents to a virtual public consultation centre to learn more about the study, including:

  • An overview of the potential alternative locations identified for the new treatment facility,
  • Information on the decision-making process and preliminary preferred alternative, and
  • An opportunity to contact the project team if you have any questions or would like to provide input.

The virtual public consultation centre materials, including the presentation recording, presentation boards, and video transcript, will be posted on the Region’s website at the link provided below.
