The Region’s Waste Discovery Day takes you behind the scenes

Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo is excited to invite the community to go “Beyond the Curb” during Waste Discovery Day, May 10, at the Waterloo Waste Management Centre.

Waste Discovery Day will feature family-fun attractions including guided bus tours of the Waterloo landfill, a falconer meet and greet, face painting, mint planting, garbage bin painting, children’s games, and a look at the new garbage and organic carts.

“We’re looking forward to giving residents and visitors a behind-the-scenes look at what happens after waste is collected from the curb,” said Colleen James, Regional Councillor and Chair of the Sustainability, Infrastructure and Development Committee.

During the guided tours, attendees can see where their garbage, green bin and yard waste go after it leaves the curb.

Waste Discovery Day is a free, fun, and family-friendly drop-in event that runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 925 Erb St. W. in Waterloo, Gate #1, with free on-site parking.

Register for the guided tours at regionofwaterloo.ca/WasteDiscoveryDay.
