  • Construction Notice: Sawmill Road closed from June 5 to November 23 About the projectComplete road reconstruction with new concrete curb and asphalt roadway surface, road widening, on-road cycling lanes, new sidewalk on both sides, installation of traffic signals with a southbound left turn-lane at Charles Street, and drainage and storm sewer improvements/replacement along with stormwater work. Timing — starts June 5Construction will be completed in stages starting June 5 and extending through November 2023.
  • Notice of Pesticide Use (2) Waterloo Region: Please be advised of the application of larvicide to the following locations for the control of West Nile Virus Vectors: Catch basins Sewage lagoons Ditches and standing water Between June 1, 2023 and August 31, 2023, municipalities within the Region of Waterloo will be conducting a larviciding program under the authority of the Region of Waterloo Medical Officer of Health to prevent the development of mosquito larvae into vectors of West Nile Virus. Altosid Pellets (PCP #21809, pellet) or VectoLex WSP (PCP #28009, pouch) will be placed by hand into catch basins of storm drains within the Region.
  • 2023 Board of Director Applications for Waterloo Regional Heritage Foundation The Waterloo Regional Heritage Foundation is a non-profit Corporation that assists in the preservation of the heritage and culture for the Region of Waterloo. The Waterloo Regional Heritage Foundation provides grants for investment in heritage-related endeavours and advises on a wide number of heritage issues throughout the Region.

These appointments give residents of this Region, from a variety of backgrounds, a chance to volunteer and become actively engaged as a member of a Board, Commission, Advisory Committee or other Special Purpose Body.
  • King Street North closed on Dec. 1 and 2 for emergency work Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo is closing King Street North, south of Central Street in Waterloo, to traffic for urgent sanitary sewer repair. The closure is expected to start on or about Thursday, December 1, until the end of day Friday, December 2.
  • 41 community organizations receiving upstream funding to improve community health and wellbeing Waterloo Region - A decision-making process led by the community, for the community, is allocating $2.1M from the Region of Waterloo's Upstream Fund and $2M from the Region's Equity Community Capacity Building Fund.
  • Share your thoughts on proposed construction for Lancaster Street in Kitchener Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo is undertaking an environmental assessment and preliminary design study for the reconstruction of Lancaster Street from Wellington Street to Bridgeport Road. This project is looking to replace deteriorated road pavement, sanitary sewers, storm sewers and watermains, improve traffic flow at intersections, and provide facilities for pedestrians and cyclists.
  • New Emergency Shelter Provider Will Operate in YW Frederick Street Location Waterloo Region – Region of Waterloo welcomes Services and Housing in the Province (SHIP), a new service provider in Waterloo Region who will begin operating an emergency shelter for those experiencing unsheltered homelessness in the YW’s 84 Frederick St Emergency Shelter building community room space later this fall.  It is anticipated that this Emergency Shelter will support up to 50 men for up to one year.
