  • Notice of Pesticide Use (3) Please be advised of the application of larvicide to the following locations for the control of West Nile Virus Vectors: Catch basinsSewage lagoonsDitches and standing waterBetween June 1, 2025 and August 31, 2025, municipalities within the Region of Waterloo will be conducting a larviciding program under the authority of the Region of Waterloo Medical Officer of Health to prevent the development of mosquito larvae into vectors of West Nile Virus. Altosid Pellets (PCP #21809, pellet), Altosid Granules (Methoprene, PCP #22676) or VectoLex WSP (PCP #28009, pouch) will be placed by hand into catch basins of storm drains within the Region.
  • Free compost now available Waterloo Region - Compost is available at both the Cambridge and Waterloo transfer stations effective Tuesday, May 6. Residents of Waterloo Region can pick up small quantities of compost at no cost until Saturday, May 24, while supplies last.
  • Accepting Board of Director applications for the Waterloo Regional Heritage Foundation Waterloo Region residents interested in serving on the Board of Directors for the Waterloo Regional Heritage Foundation can apply before 11:59 p.m.
  • Construction notice: King Street, Waterloo, April–June 2025 University Avenue to Central Street About the project The Region of Waterloo is repairing King Street between University Avenue West and Central Street. We are completing concrete repairs, underground infrastructure repairs, surface asphalt paving and re-painting the crosswalks.
  • Construction notice: Bleams Road extension, Kitchener, April–June 2025 Manitou Drive to Wilson Avenue Project update The Region of Waterloo is continuing to construct the Bleams Road extension from Manitou Drive to Wilson Avenue in Kitchener. This year’s work includes adding concrete curb and final asphalt to the new road and bridge, multi-use paths on both sides of the road, new lighting and underground infrastructure upgrades.
  • Construction update: Fischer-Hallman / Bearinger Road, Waterloo, April–July 2025 Columbia Street to Westmount Road Project update The Region is continuing improvements on Fischer-Hallman/Bearinger Road from Columbia Street to Westmount Road in Waterloo. We are moving into the final stages of this work, which include: Watermain and storm sewer upgrades through the Bearinger Road and Westmount Road intersection Finishing the east side boulevard between Columbia Street and Laurelwood Drive Installing the west side multi-use path between Columbia Street and Laurelwood Drive Adding new curb and gutter, street lighting and multi-use paths between Laurelwood Drive and Westmount Road Timing Work in this area will continue until July 2025.
  • PUBLIC NOTICE – KITCHENER- SURPLUS LAND (1) TAKE NOTICE THAT on May 21, 2025, at 7:00 p.m.
  • Construction notice: Samuelson Street, Cambridge, April–June 2025 Elgin Street to Mill Creek Road About the project The Region of Waterloo, in consultation with the City of Cambridge, is installing a new watermain along Samuelson Street. This work involves installing a new transmission/local watermain from Elgin Street N to Mill Creek Road, connecting to the new watermain installed last year.
  • Construction notice: Ottawa Street improvements, Kitchener, April–November Pinedale Road to Mowat Boulevard About the project The Region of Waterloo is improving Ottawa Street from Pinedale Drive to Mowat Boulevard. This is phase two of the Ottawa Street improvements project.
  • Notice of Intention to Amend the Regional Road System By-Law The Region of Waterloo intends to amend By-law 01-059 (Regional Road System By-law). The amendment is with respect to the transfer of jurisdiction of Duke Street West between Victoria Street North and Breithaupt Street, in the City of Kitchener for the Kitchener Central Transit Hub.
