    With weather conditions improving and the plows out working 24/7, the Region of Waterloo will end the Significant Weather Event at 4:00 p.m.

  • Region of Waterloo declares significant weather event - Dec. 29, 2025

    A significant winter storm is underway with snowfall totals reaching up to 20 cm and blowing snow due to high winds greater than 60 km/h.  Based on this forecast, the Region of Waterloo has declared a Significant Weather Event starting at 5 p.

In accordance with requirements of the Canadian Navigable Waters Act, Regional Municipality of Waterloo hereby gives notice that an application has been submitted to the Minister of Transport for the below work(s): Registry Number: 13367 NPP File Number: 2023-409632 Project Description: The Region of Waterloo is planning to replace the Scheifele Bridge crossing the Conestogo River.

  • Construction notice: Scheifele Bridge, Woolwich, December 2025 – April 2026 Northfield Drive at Conestogo River About the project The Region of Waterloo will be replacing the Scheifele Bridge on Northfield Drive over the Conestogo River in Woolwich, starting in spring 2026. To access the site during construction, some trees need to be removed ahead of time.
  • Notice of Intention to Pass Fees and Charges By-Law and a By-law to Amend the Taxi by-law The Region of Waterloo intends to pass a By-law to Establish Fees and Charges, which includes new fees and charges, as well as amendments and/or removal of existing fees and charges. Some of the changes included in the by-law are for transit services, waste management services, airport services, regional growth, development and sustainability services, cultural services, seniors’ services and paramedic services.
  • Nominations are now open for the Waterloo Regional Heritage Foundation awards Nominations are now open for the Waterloo Regional Heritage Foundation’s awards. Each year, the Foundation presents awards in five categories to recognize outstanding contributions to heritage preservation in the Waterloo Region: Awards of Excellence are intended to recognise outstanding contributions by individuals, institutions and organizations to heritage preservation in Waterloo Region, in such areas as archaeology, archives, culture, education, genealogy, history, literature, media, natural history and others.
  • Public meeting: Arthur Street, South Street East to Kenning Place, Woolwich, November 25, 7–9 p.m. The Region of Waterloo plans to reconstruct Arthur Street from South Street East to Kenning Place in Elmira. This section of Arthur Street includes the downtown core of Elmira and approximately 940 meters north of Church Street, including the Canagagigue Creek bridge.
  • Waterloo Region Landfill Liaison Committee Meeting — November 4, 2025 The Region of Waterloo’s Landfill Liaison Committee was established in 1992 to identify operational issues that affect residents close to the Waterloo landfill, such as litter, odour and noise, and to collaboratively resolve these issues.
