About the project

The Region of Waterloo, in consultation with the City of Cambridge, will install a new watermain along Elgin Street North. This work involves installing a new local watermain from Hilltop Drive to Linnwood Avenue. All of the watermain and services will be installed by trenching.

Timing — starts July 29, 2024

This work will start on July 29, 2024 and last until November 2024.

Closures — Elgin Street North

During construction, Elgin Street North, from Hilltop Drive to Linnwood Ave, will be reduced to one lane. Please plan for some delays and travel carefully in the construction zone.

Pedestrian access

Pedestrians will continue to have access during construction. When driving or walking through and around the construction zone, please follow the construction traffic signage for your safety and the safety of the workers.

During the reconnection of existing water services to the newly installed water main, water supply interruptions will be minimal, and no temporary above-ground water main will be necessary. For this reconnection work, there will be only brief water service interruptions (30-60 minutes). The contractor will inform you in person on the same day.
