Regional service changes for Remembrance Day
Waterloo Region – Here’s a list of Region of Waterloo service changes for observance of Remembrance Day on Tuesday, November 11.
Administrative offices
- All Regional administrative offices (99 Regina St. S. in Waterloo, 150 Frederick St. in Kitchener, 150 Main St. in Cambridge, Airport Administrative, Home Child Care offices) will be closed.
Warming spaces
- Warming spaces will be open at 150 Main Street (Cambridge) from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 150 Frederick Street (Kitchener) from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Garbage, green bin and yard waste collection
- Pick up will not be affected. Regular curbside waste collection will occur on Tuesday. Please have all items to the curb by 7 a.m.
- Transfer stations for residential drop-off at both the Cambridge and Waterloo Waste Management sites will be closed.
Grand River Transit
- GRT will operate on a regular schedule, however bus and train service will pause at 11 a.m. to mark Remembrance Day.
- There will be no ION light rail service between Grand River Hospital and Mill Stations from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., to accommodate the ceremony at the Kitchener cenotaph. Shuttle buses will run, and customers should board at 301R ION replacement stops.
- The following bus routes will be on detour during Remembrance Day ceremonies: 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 16, 20, 55, 57, 77, 203 and 204. For more information, visit www.grt.ca/nov11.
- All GRT Customer Service Centres, 250 Strasburg Rd., Kitchener, 105 King St. E., Kitchener and 35 Ainslie St. S., Cambridge, will be closed.
Home child care
- Licensed care will operate as specified by your provider.
- Offices will be closed.
- For urgent issues, call 519-575-4400 and ask for Home Child Care.
Region of Waterloo International Airport
- Administration offices at the airport will be closed but airport operations will not be affected.
Region of Waterloo libraries
- All branches will be open during regular hours. For branch hours, please visit www.rwlibrary.ca.
Region of Waterloo museums
- The Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum, Schneider Haus National Historic Site and McDougall Cottage Historic Site will be closed.
Region of Waterloo Public Health clinics
- Public Health Clinics at 99 Regina St. S. in Waterloo, 20 Weber St. E. in Kitchener, and 150 Main St. in Cambridge will be closed.
Seniors’ Services
- Administration for Sunnyside Seniors’ Services will be closed.
- The Sunnyside Wellness Centre will be closed.
- Community Alzheimer day programs in Kitchener, Cambridge and Waterloo will be closed. Overnight stay is open.
Service First Call Centre
- Remains open 24/7.
Welcome Spaces
- Welcome Spaces at 99 Regina St. S. in Waterloo, 20 Weber St. E. in Kitchener, and 150 Main St. in Cambridge will be closed.
