Waterloo Region – Three mosquito surveillance traps have tested positive for West Nile virus: one in Cambridge, one in Kitchener and one in the Township of Wilmot. These are the first mosquitoes in the region to test positive in 2025.
Bean Road (Township Road 8)Project updateAs part of the Walker Road improvements, we are replacing the culvert which crosses Bean Road at Walker Road. A culvert is a tunnel that allows water to flow under the road safely.
About the projectThe Region of Waterloo will be repairing damaged asphalt at 90 locations across the region over the next two months. This process includes removing the top layer of asphalt, cleaning, applying a tack coat to keep the asphalt layers together, and resurfacing with new asphalt and road lines.
To maintain federal standards, weed and grass control is planned along the Waterloo Spur Rail Line between Breithaupt Street in Kitchener and First Street South in Elmira, excluding the section between King Street North and Northfield Drive West. The work will take place on August 20, at 10 p.
The Region of Waterloo’s Landfill Liaison Committee was established in 1992 to identify and collaboratively resolve operational issues such as litter, odour and noise that affect residents living close to the Waterloo landfill. The next committee meeting is scheduled for 6 p.
Highway 7/8 to Bean RoadAbout the projectThe Region of Waterloo is improving Walker Road between Highway 7/8 and Bean Road in Wilmot. This work will include resurfacing the asphalt, replacing the culvert and upgrading the guiderails.
Melville Street to Water Street About the project The Region of Waterloo is completing maintenance work on the Main Street Bridge in Cambridge. This work includes small concrete repairs and applying a protective coating to parts of the bridge.
About the project The Region of Waterloo is rehabilitating the West Montrose Covered Bridge in Woolwich. This project includes replacing worn-out wood, the roof and siding, removing the old steel support, repairing the bridge foundation and strengthening key parts of the structure.
