Construction notice: West Montrose Covered Bridge, Woolwich, August 2025–December 2026 About the project The Region of Waterloo is rehabilitating the West Montrose Covered Bridge in Woolwich. This project includes replacing worn-out wood, the roof and siding, removing the old steel support, repairing the bridge foundation and strengthening key parts of the structure.

This work is part of the roundabout pedestrian safety pilot that is trialing three different crosswalk safety features to help anyone walking or rolling feel more safe.

Construction update: Ottawa Street, Kitchener, July–November, 2025 Pinedale Drive to Westmount Road Project update As part of the Ottawa Street improvements project, the Region of Waterloo is starting stage two of this year’s work between Westmount Road and Pinedale Drive. In this stage we will replace a culvert at Shoemaker Creek, continue the new roundabout at the Ottawa Street and Westmount Road intersection, replace underground infrastructure, add new multi-use paths on both sides of Ottawa Street and upgrade the streetlighting.

Construction notice: Myers Road, Cambridge, July 2025 Gatehouse Drive/Lisbon Pines Drive to Branchton Road About the project The Region of Waterloo is improving the pedestrian crossings on Myers Road between Branchton Road and Gatehouse Drive/Lisbon Pines Drive. This includes a raised pedestrian crossing in front of Moffat Creek school with curb and gutter, pavement markings, signage, and a “speed hump” to provide greater visibility of the crossing area and help slow down traffic.

Construction notice: Fairway Road, Kitchener, July–August 2025 Lackner Boulevard to Pebblecreek Drive About the project The Region of Waterloo is improving Fairway Road between Lackner Boulevard and Pebblecreek Drive in Kitchener. This work includes: Replacing the sidewalk with a new multi-use path on the north side of the street Removing the traffic island at Lackner Boulevard Reconfiguring the sidewalk ramps and pavement markings at the intersections Relocating light poles Installing signage Landscaping These improvements will make it easier and safer for pedestrians and cyclists to get around in this area.
