Construction notice: Roundabout pedestrian safety pilot Homer Watson Boulevard and Block Line Road, Kitchener Franklin Boulevard and Bishop Street North, Cambridge Erb Street West and Ira Needles Boulevard/Erbsville Road, WaterlooAbout the projectThe Region of Waterloo is improving three existing roundabouts in Kitchener, Cambridge and Waterloo. This work is part of the roundabout pedestrian safety pilot that is trialing three different crosswalk safety features to help anyone walking or rolling feel more safe.

Construction notice: Bridgeport Bridge, Kitchener, July 10–September 2025 Lancaster Street to Tyson Drive About the project The Region of Waterloo is completing maintenance work on the Bridgeport Bridge in Kitchener. This work includes small concrete repairs and applying a protective coating to parts of the bridge.

Construction update: Ottawa Street, Kitchener, July–November, 2025 Pinedale Drive to Westmount Road Project update As part of the Ottawa Street improvements project, the Region of Waterloo is starting stage two of this year’s work between Westmount Road and Pinedale Drive. In this stage we will replace a culvert at Shoemaker Creek, continue the new roundabout at the Ottawa Street and Westmount Road intersection, replace underground infrastructure, add new multi-use paths on both sides of Ottawa Street and upgrade the streetlighting.

Construction notice: Myers Road, Cambridge, July 2025 Gatehouse Drive/Lisbon Pines Drive to Branchton Road About the project The Region of Waterloo is improving the pedestrian crossings on Myers Road between Branchton Road and Gatehouse Drive/Lisbon Pines Drive. This includes a raised pedestrian crossing in front of Moffat Creek school with curb and gutter, pavement markings, signage, and a “speed hump” to provide greater visibility of the crossing area and help slow down traffic.

Construction notice: Fairway Road, Kitchener, July–August 2025 Lackner Boulevard to Pebblecreek Drive About the project The Region of Waterloo is improving Fairway Road between Lackner Boulevard and Pebblecreek Drive in Kitchener. This work includes: Replacing the sidewalk with a new multi-use path on the north side of the street Removing the traffic island at Lackner Boulevard Reconfiguring the sidewalk ramps and pavement markings at the intersections Relocating light poles Installing signage Landscaping These improvements will make it easier and safer for pedestrians and cyclists to get around in this area.

Construction notice: Fountain Street and Maple Grove Road, Cambridge, May 24–25, 2025 Project update As part of the Fountain Street and Maple Grove Road project, we will be completing surface asphalt paving and permanent line painting on the roundabout over the weekend. This work requires a full closure of the intersection.

Construction notice: King Street, Waterloo, April–June 2025 University Avenue to Central Street About the project The Region of Waterloo is repairing King Street between University Avenue West and Central Street. We are completing concrete repairs, underground infrastructure repairs, surface asphalt paving and re-painting the crosswalks.

Construction notice: Bleams Road extension, Kitchener, April–June 2025 Manitou Drive to Wilson Avenue Project update The Region of Waterloo is continuing to construct the Bleams Road extension from Manitou Drive to Wilson Avenue in Kitchener. This year’s work includes adding concrete curb and final asphalt to the new road and bridge, multi-use paths on both sides of the road, new lighting and underground infrastructure upgrades.
