Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo, in cooperation with the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO), is undertaking an Environmental Assessment to consider the closure of the ramps connecting Lancaster Street and Highway 85 in Kitchener.
The highway section on southbound Highway 85, where traffic from Bridgeport Road merges on and the traffic exiting to Lancaster Street diverges, is short and creates a weaving section known to have a high number of collisions....

Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo is closing King Street North, south of Central Street in Waterloo, to traffic for urgent sanitary sewer repair. The closure is expected to start on or about Thursday, December 1, until the end of day Friday, December 2. The road will reopen to through traffic by end of day Friday.

The Region, in cooperation with the MTO, is considering closing the Lancaster Street and Highway 85 ramps in Kitchener. The planning of this project is being conducted in accordance with the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) process.  The public is being asked to provide input at www.engagewr.ca/lancaster-85-ramps from November 29 to December 19, 2022.

The Region of Waterloo intends to pass a By-law to amend the Fees and Charges By-law as of January 1, 2023, which reduces the children’s services, home child care parent fee rates for children under the age of six.

The Region of Waterloo  – Effective at 03:30 a.m. the Region of Waterloo has reopened primary runway 08-26 and returned to regular operations.
The runway was closed early Friday morning after Flair Airlines flight F8501, arriving from Vancouver exited the runway at the end of its landing. All passengers and crew where removed from the aircraft and no injuries were reported.
