This group has been added to Phase 2 of the vaccine rollout under highest-risk health conditions.

  • Community Environmental Fund supports 18 new projects Waterloo Region - RegionalCouncil has approved $149,992 in funding for 18 projects under the Community Environmental Fund (CEF) grant program this year. Applicants receiving funding include 15 community organizations and three schools, with projects ranging from Kids Cutting Carbon and community gardens, to reusable takeout containers.

  • Region and WRDSB agree to closure date for Elmira Children’s Centre Waterloo Region - The Region of Waterloo and the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) have agreed to an August 20th closure date for the Elmira Children's Centre, located at Riverside Public School. In accordance with its normal practice, the WRDSB is responsible for selecting child care providers to operate in its schools and will make a public announcement when a provider at Riverside is confirmed.

The Province has identified which sectors fall within the first group of essential workers who cannot work from home.

  • Federal budget reinforces Regional priorities Waterloo Region -Yesterday's federal budget provided the Government of Canada's plan to emerge and bounce back from COVID-19 and reinforced key priority areas for the Region of Waterloo. The budget responds to some of the gaps exposed by the pandemic, including long-term care, mental health, sickness benefits and child care.
