  • Moody’s maintains Region’s Triple A credit rating Waterloo Region – Moody’s Investors Services has rated the Region of Waterloo with a Triple A credit rating for another year. The Region’s Aaa rating reflects strong financial management and long-term planning, supported by a healthy economic base and diverse employment sectors.

What’s open/not affected:  Regional of Waterloo Customer Service line open 24/7 at 519-575-4400 Grand River Transit (GRT) will operate on a holiday service schedule.
  • Region thanks community as regular water service resumes and restrictions lift Waterloo Region - Regular water service resumed overnight following repairs to a large pipe that supplies roughly 20 per cent of the Region's drinking water. The Region's water operations team and its partners drained the pipe on August 19 and worked around the clock to repair it quickly and efficiently.
  • Building Better Futures: Region of Waterloo leveraging Regionally-owned land to create more affordability at future housing project Region of Waterloo uses parcel sale to support new affordable housing project at 30 Lauris Avenue in Cambridge Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo is taking another step forward in accelerating new housing, using existing Regional land to improve the availability of affordable housing at 30 Lauris Avenue in Cambridge. The Region has created three new parcels for single family dwellings, and will retain one parcel for a future affordable housing project.

  • Region garners gold award for community event with Kitchener Public Library Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo was honoured with a 2024 Gold Special Event Award from the Municipal Waste Association for Promotion & Education. The award recognized Waste Management’s Kiss the Ground Farming, Food and You event held last October in partnership with the Kitchener Public Library.
