  • Regional Council repeals mask by-law Waterloo Region – At a Special Council Meeting this evening, Regional Council repealed the mask by-law requiring face coverings in enclosed public spaces, effective March 21, 2022. The by-law has been in place since July 2020.
  • Region of Waterloo International Airport (YKF) ranked the 6th busiest airport in Canada in 2021 (1) The Region of Waterloo – Statistics Canada Annual Aircraft Movement Statistics Report ranks the Region of Waterloo International Airport as the 6th busiest airport in Canada in 2021. This report, tracks aircraft movements, a take-off or a landing.
  • Region asking residents to comment on proposed roundabout at Fischer-Hallman and New Dundee Waterloo Region, March 14, 2022—The Region of Waterloo is considering a new roundabout at Fischer-Hallman Road (Regional Road 58) and New Dundee Road (Regional Road 12) in Kitchener/Township of North Dumfries to enhance service and safety for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers. At this time, the Region is asking residents to complete a survey by April 8, 2022, at engagewr.

  • The Boardwalk vaccination clinic uses time capsule to reflect and celebrate one-year anniversary Waterloo Region – Today marks the one-year anniversary of The Boardwalk vaccination clinic, one of the key locations in Waterloo Region that has been administering doses of the COVID-19 vaccine for the past year. Staff and volunteers are celebrating their contribution to the vaccine rollout including administering approximately 235,000 doses to protect the residents of the community.
  • Additional steps to ease public health measures Waterloo Region – Effective tomorrow, March 1, 2022, the Province of Ontario will take additional steps to ease public health measures. This includes lifting capacity limits in all remaining indoor public settings as well as the lifting of proof of vaccination requirements for all settings.
  • Wellesley vaccination clinic will wrap up on March 5 Waterloo Region - The Wellesley vaccination clinic, which first opened on March 15, 2021 and ramped up to administer more vaccines during the Omicron wave, will wrap up operations on Saturday, March 5. This regional vaccination clinic made it easier for residents living in Waterloo Region's townships to access the COVID-19 vaccine.
  • GRT planning transit improvements for City of Cambridge Waterloo Region - Grand River Transit (GRT) is planning approximately $2 million in service improvements in the City of Cambridge this fall and wants to hear from community members. “These changes provide direct bus routes to services people in Cambridge need, like grocery stores and employment areas,” said Tom Galloway, Regional Councillor and Chair of the Planning and Works Committee.
