  • Regional of Waterloo service changes for Easter weekend Waterloo Region - Here's a list of Region of Waterloo service changes for the Easter weekend (Friday, April 2nd to Monday, April 5th). Please note: The Region of Waterloo continues to operate with service changes and COVID-19 related protocols due to the pandemic.
  • COVID-19 vaccine pre-registration opens for more Phase Two groups Waterloo Region – As of March 30, adults in the 60-69 age group and three more priority groups are eligible to pre-register for the COVID-19 vaccine in Waterloo Region. The Province has identified these groups as next in order of priority for the Phase Two rollout of the vaccine.
  • Pilot vaccine clinic at Elmira Family Health Organization opens today Waterloo Region – Today, the Elmira Family Health Organization is beginning to vaccinate their patients currently eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. This clinic is the first pilot of a COVID-19 vaccine clinic in Waterloo Region in a smaller primary care office.
  • Vaccine pre-registration opens for people with specific health conditions Waterloo Region - Residents of Waterloo Region with health conditions considered to be at highest-risk and high-risk for complications from COVID-19 can now pre-register for the vaccine. One essential caregiver for individuals in the highest-risk group (and certain high-risk groups) can also pre-register to receive the vaccine.
  • Region seeks parent input on future of child care and early learning Waterloo Region – The Region has launched a parent survey to better understand how well the early learning and child care system is serving local families, what barriers exist, and where improvements are needed. “By taking a planned and strategic approach, in collaboration with community partners, we will work to ensure that Waterloo Region is a community where all children thrive,” Barbara Cardow, Director, Children’s Services.
  • Ontario Budget signals major progress on Two-Way All Day GO Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo is very encouraged by today’s Ontario budget, which includes a significant package of infrastructure works along the Guelph subdivision from Georgetown to Kitchener. The improvements that have been included in today’s budget are necessary to increase capacity on the line for more trains to travel both ways from end to end of the innovation corridor.
  • Local vaccination clinics for First Nations, Métis and Inuit Waterloo Region, Ontario - This week, thanks to a close partnership with The Healing of the Seven Generations, the KW Urban Native Wigwam Project, the Southwest Ontario Aboriginal Health Access Centre, Ontario Health West and the Region of Waterloo, members of the First Nations, Métis and Inuit community are getting the vaccine against COVID-19 at a pop-up vaccination clinic at 150 Frederick Street (Regional Headquarters) in Kitchener. First Nations, Métis and Inuit residents who indicated they would prefer vaccination in partnership with an Indigenous organization have been offered the opportunity to attend the vaccination clinic at 150 Frederick Street on March 24-25.
  • Opening of largest vaccination clinic in Waterloo Region Waterloo Region - The largest vaccination clinic location in Waterloo Region to date opens today at SmartCentres, 66 Pinebush Road in Cambridge. The Cambridge Pinebush vaccination clinic is being operated and staffed by Grand River Hospital with the engagement and support of other local hospitals.
  • First Indigenous vaccination clinic in Waterloo Region Waterloo Region, Ontario – Today, the first of two pop-up Indigenous vaccination clinics in Waterloo Region will be immunizing members of the First Nation, Métis and Inuit community. The vaccination clinic at Anishnabeg Outreach, 236 Woodhaven Road in Kitchener, is open March 19-20 for Indigenous residents who are interested in receiving their vaccine in a culturally appropriate setting.
  • 50,000 doses milestone marks Phase Two of vaccine rollout Waterloo Region - As the number of COVID-19 vaccines administered surpasses the 50,000 mark in Waterloo Region today, residents in the 70-79 age group are being contacted to let them know they can book an appointment for their COVID-19 vaccination. Anyone who is 80+ and is still waiting for an appointment remains at the top of the priority list and can expect to be contacted within the next few days.
