  • “Every Dose Counts” event this coming weekend for children and families in Waterloo Region Waterloo Region – This coming weekend, the Cambridge Pinebush vaccination clinic and three community mobile clinics will be offering parents and children more opportunities to get the COVID-19 vaccine. The Cambridge Pinebush location has increased its capacity for a special Every Dose Counts weekend.
  • Waterloo Region ready to give booster doses to residents 50+ starting December 13 Waterloo Region – Starting Monday, December 13, residents of Waterloo Region who are 50 years of age and older can get a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine six months (168 days) after their second dose. Residents will be able to get a booster dose from a participating pharmacy, at many doctor’s offices (for their patients), or at a regional vaccination clinic.
  • KidsAbility partners with Region of Waterloo to make it easier for children who need extra support to get the COVID-19 vaccine Waterloo Region – KidsAbility, an organization with a long history of supporting children in the community, is partnering with the Region of Waterloo to host vaccination clinics for children who would benefit from getting the vaccine in a supportive and comfortable environment. Starting this weekend, vaccination clinics at KidsAbility locations in Waterloo and Cambridge will make it easier for some of the region’s most vulnerable children to get vaccinated.
  • More opportunities for families to vaccinate their children 5-11 against COVID-19 at local schools Waterloo Region - The Region of Waterloo, in partnership with Waterloo Region District School Board and the Waterloo Catholic District School Board, is bringing after-school and full-day vaccination clinics to a number of local schools to make it easier to vaccinate all 5-11 year olds across Waterloo Region before the holidays. Parents and guardians may also find it easier to get their children vaccinated close to home in a familiar school setting.
  • Waterloo Region vaccination clinics welcome 5-11 year olds on first-dose Friday Waterloo Region – Today, Waterloo Region began administering children’s doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to 5-11 year olds to protect them against the virus and the highly transmissible Delta variant. Many eager families and children booked an appointment for today, the first day this age group is able to get the vaccine at a regional vaccination clinic, doctor’s office or pharmacy in our community.
  • Public Health closes local school due to COVID-19 outbreak Waterloo Region – Due to the concern for widespread and rapid transmission of COVID-19, Region of Waterloo Public Health and Emergency Services is directing the closure of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Elementary School in Kitchener. Public Health is working closely with the school to ensure infection prevention and control protocols are implemented in order to protect staff, students and their families from exposure to the virus.
  • New public dashboard shows Region’s progress on transformational affordable housing plan Waterloo Region – Today, on National Housing Day, the Region of Waterloo launched a public dashboard that shares the progress we are making on the affordable housing plan, Building Better Futures: 2,500 Homes in 5 Years.  The dashboard includes a running total of homes occupied and in development to date, as well as an interactive map showing the locations of the projects.
  • Waterloo Region ready to begin administering children’s doses to 5-11 year olds this Friday Waterloo Region - On Friday, Waterloo Region will begin administering children's doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to 5-11 year olds to protect them against the virus and the highly transmissible Delta variant. Starting on Tuesday, November 23, parents/guardians will be able to book an appointment for their children to get a vaccine at a regional vaccination clinic on the Region of Waterloo website: regionofwaterloo/GetaVaccine When the Region opens its booking system for appointments on Tuesday, a sufficient number of appointments will be released for the next four weeks so children can receive their first dose of the vaccine before the holidays.
  • Waterloo Region set to become best community in Canada for children and youth Waterloo Region – Smart Waterloo Region (SWR) today announced the revitalization of its program and mandate to make Waterloo Region the best community in Canada for children and youth by 2040. The SWR vision was originally born in 2019 when the Region of Waterloo and seven area municipalities entered and became a finalist in the Federal Government’s Smart Cities Challenge.
  • Outbreak declared at Operations Centre at Airport Waterloo Region – Public Health has declared a COVID-19 workplace outbreak at the Region of Waterloo International Airport Operations Centre as two employees have tested positive for the virus. Contact tracing is ongoing.
