  • Stage 2 ION light rail one step closer in Waterloo Region Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo is closer to connecting to Stage 2 ION light rail – the connection to Cambridge.  The Transit Project Assessment for ION is approved by the Province, marking the most important milestone in the project to date.
  • Moderna vaccine to be available at some clinics while Pfizer shipment is delayed Waterloo Region – Waterloo Region’s Vaccine Distribution Task Force is informing residents that a Pfizer delivery this week from the province has been delayed. All vaccination appointments will be honoured as there is sufficient supply of Moderna, which is a highly effective and interchangeable mRNA vaccine.
  • Waterloo Region reports first COVID-related death in fully immunized individual Waterloo Region – Region of Waterloo Public Health and Emergency Services is reporting the first COVID-19 related death in an individual who was fully immunized. The latest death is a female in their nineties.
  • What to do if you got your COVID-19 vaccine outside of Ontario Waterloo Region – Residents of Waterloo Region who got one or both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine outside of Ontario are being asked to contact Public Health to have their COVID-19 immunization record updated in the provincial database. The Province recently announced that proof of immunization is required to verify the COVID-19 vaccine product received outside of Ontario or Canada.
  • Statement: Combatting increased COVID-19 case rates in Waterloo Region Waterloo Region - Waterloo Region is experiencing an increasing number of COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and outbreaks, believed to be due to the usual risk factors, combined with the spread of the Delta variant. Residents should assume that the Delta variant is circulating widely in Waterloo Region and that there are much higher case numbers of this variant than can be currently confirmed.
  • COVID-19 Safe Ambassador Program Launches in Waterloo Region Waterloo Region - Today, the Region of Waterloo and the Greater Kitchener-Waterloo and Cambridge Chambers of Commerce announced the formal launch of the COVID-19 Safe Ambassador Program. The program, which is the first of its kind in Canada, provides free education and one-on-one guidance to help small & medium sized businesses in Waterloo Region to minimize COVID-19 risks.
  • How to change your COVID-19 vaccine appointment Waterloo Region – Residents of Waterloo Region who need to change their appointment for the COVID-19 vaccine can request a new appointment by completing a form on the Region of Waterloo website: Second dose booking request. Individuals may need to request a change to their second appointment because they are now eligible for a shortened interval between first and second doses.
  • “What’s your why?” campaign launches today in Waterloo Region Waterloo Region – Today marks the launch of a “What’s your why?” campaign in Waterloo Region and the beginning of a community-wide conversation on the reasons people have for getting the COVID-19 vaccine. Participating in this campaign are a number of local residents who will each share a personal story about the reason they were vaccinated.
  • Shortened second-dose interval for anyone who received the AstraZeneca vaccine Waterloo Region – Starting on Monday, June 14, anyone who received a first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine is now eligible to receive their second dose eight weeks after their first dose depending on the vaccine supply. Yesterday, the Province announced it is accelerating the second-dose eligibility interval to eight weeks from 12 weeks for individuals who received their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
