  • Vaccine clinics continue based on availability of supply Waterloo Region – Vaccines continues to be rolled out in the region based on the availability of supply. The recent announcement from Pfizer of a decrease in the Canadian allocation of vaccine has resulted in a need to rework the current vaccine clinic plan for the Grand River Hospital clinic.
  • 10,000 doses administered in Waterloo Region Waterloo Region – Another milestone has been reached today with over 10,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine administered since clinics began in late December 2020. Vaccines are being administered to priority groups in the first phase of a three-phased provincial distribution implementation plan.
  • First LTC residents to be vaccinated in Waterloo Region Waterloo Region - Residents of three long-term care homes in Waterloo Region will be the first to receive the COVID-19 vaccine as part of a newly launched mobile clinic program. The mobile clinic, developed by Region of Waterloo Public Health and several community partners, is part of the first phase of a three-phased provincial distribution implementation plan.
  • Increased COVID-19 vaccine supply needed for priority populations Waterloo Region – COVID-19 vaccinations continue in Waterloo Region with 6,823 healthcare workers vaccinated by end of day January 10, 2021. Due to limited supply, vaccinations take place using a just-in-time inventory.

  • Charges laid for in person gathering at Church in Woolwich Township Waterloo Region – Region of Waterloo By-law Enforcement officers laid charges today under the Reopening Ontario (A Flexible Response to COVID-19) Act in connection with an in person gathering at a Church on Lobsinger Line in Woolwich Township. Officers, in partnership with Waterloo Regional Police Service, responded to complaints by visiting the place of worship on Sunday, January 3.
  • Waterloo Region’s Board of Health calls for paid sick leave benefits Waterloo Region – Region of Waterloo Board of Health unanimously passed a motion today to advocate to both the Province and the Government of Canada on the need for paid sick time to help address the ongoing spread of COVID-19, and the spread of other illnesses in the future. “We know workplace outbreaks are a major obstacle in slowing the spread of COVID-19 in our community,” said Regional Chair Karen Redman.
  • Automated Speed Enforcement Coming Soon to Waterloo Region Waterloo Region - Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) is coming to Waterloo Region. “Coming Soon” signage is being installed this week to notify the public that in 90 days the ASE units will be operational and may begin issuing tickets.
