Fountain Street

Overview

The Region of Waterloo is improving Fountain Street between Fairway Road North/Kossuth Road and Cherry Blossom Road in Cambridge. This work includes:

• Constructing a two-lane roundabout at the Fountain Street and Maple Grove Road intersection (finished)
• Widening to four lanes between Fairway Road North/Kossuth Road and Maple Grove Road
• Repaving the existing lanes between Maple Grove Road and Cherry Blossom Road
• Adding a multi-use path
• Installing new storm sewers, sanitary sewer and watermain
• Upgrading the street lighting and planting new trees

This project will be completed in phases:

• Phase 1: Maple Grove Road to Allendale Road (complete)
• Phase 2: Allendale Road to Fairway Road North/Kossuth Road
• Phase 3: Maple Grove Road to Highway 401

Schedule

Phase 1 (complete):
Design and planning: 2015–2023
Utility relocations: Winter 2024
Construction: May 2024–September 2025

Phase 2:
Design and planning: 2015–2026
Utility relocations: 2026–2027
Construction: 2027

Phase 3:
Design and planning: 2029–2030
Construction: 2031

Note: timing may be affected by weather conditions and changing project scope; updates will be posted as needed.
