Main Street | Franklin to Main
Project number: 07568 | Updated: January 2025
The Region of Waterloo is planning improvements to Main Street between Franklin Boulevard and 1050 Main St. in Cambridge. The project will include pavement rehabilitation, upgrades to underground infrastructure, and new transit, cycling and pedestrian facilities.
More details of this project include extending underground utilities for future development in the area and reconstruction of the road base and asphalt. The road will continue to have two lanes of traffic with curb, gutter and storm sewers added. Adjustments will be made to the slope of the hill to improve sightlines for motorists and pedestrians. New single direction cycling lanes and sidewalks will be constructed on both sides of the road. Pedestrian refuge islands will be placed in the middle of the road.
These improvements make it easier and safer for everyone to get around, whether by public transit, bike, foot or by car.
