Dickie Settlement Road at Roseville Road intersection

Project number: 07441 |  Updated: January 2025

We are constructing a single lane roundabout at the Dickie Settlement and Roseville Road intersection in North Dumfries. This decision was based on technical studies, the Region’s current experience with roundabouts and input received from the public during the engagement period.

The technical studies for this project show:

  • A roundabout would result in fewer injury collisions than the signalized intersection
  • A roundabout would result in fewer delays to all users
  • Life cycle cost of a roundabout is equal or better than the traffic signal with left turn lanes
  • A roundabout would reduce idling times resulting in fuel savings and reduced emissions

0.6km west of Fischer-Hallman Road to 0.4km east of Fischer-Hallman Road

Project number: 05986 |  Updated: November 2025

The Region of Waterloo is improving Roseville Road between 0.6km west of Fischer-Hallman Road to 0.4km east of Fischer-Hallman Road in North Dumfries. The improvements include:

  • Asphalt resurfacing
  • Repairing a storm sewer spot
  • Installing new sidewalks (existing on-road cycling lanes will be maintained)
  • Utility relocations where necessary
  • Upgrading street lighting
  • Waterproofing the concrete box culvert at 3250 Roseville Road

The pedestrian refuge island previously considered has been removed from the design since the intersection of Roseville Road and Fischer-Hallman Road has been converted to a three-way stop. Because the intersection is now fully protected, pedestrian crosswalks will be added on each leg. This work will be completed in a separate contract from the Roseville Road reconstruction project. A roundabout was considered at the Roseville Road and Fischer-Hallman Road intersection, but was not feasible due to the proximity of nearby homes.

Schedule

Design and planning: 2019–2026
Construction: Spring–Fall 2027
