Preparing for Your Home Water Review

On this page:

Important information for your upcoming home water use review

Thank you for requesting a home water use review. We appreciate your interest in conserving water. Please take a few minutes to read this information to help prepare for your review.

Your consultant: Carlos Losanda, Greenbrain Inc.

Purpose of review: To provide you with a better understanding of your household water use and what actions to consider to reduce water consumption. The review will not fix plumbing issues.

The consultant is not a licensed plumber and:

  • will not have the resources to find all possible leaks or water related issues
  • cannot fix plumbing issues. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to hire a licensed plumber for this  work

Preparing for your visit

It will be helpful to:

  • have a copy of your most recent water bill available
  • know the where your water meter is located
  • have a general understanding of your household water use, such as the number and length of showers taken per week.

During the review

The consultant will walk with you through your home room by room to discuss the water fixtures and appliances and actions to reduce water use.

The consultant will also:

  • Show you the water consumption on your water bill
  • Explain how to find the reading on your water meter
  • Test your toilets for leaks and offer a replacement toilet flapper if required
  • Measure the flow rate of showerheads and offer a water efficient model if required
  • Offer water efficient aerators for taps if required
  • Provide water hardness details to properly set your water softener

At the end of the review, you will be offered:

  • an information folder
  • a shower timer

Following the review, you will receive by email a report summarizing the visit.

Tell us how we did

Following the review, you will receive a link to a survey that should take about five minutes to complete. Completing the survey gives you the opportunity to provide feedback on your experience and helps us with program improvements.

You can also contact us with feedback at watercycle@regionofwaterloo.ca.
