Public health inspectors check a variety of businesses in Waterloo Region to ensure they are meeting public health requirements. To help you make informed decisions about which businesses you may want to visit, the inspection results are available online.

Inspection results are available for:

• Overnight camps
• Small drinking water systems

Making a complaint

You can file a complaint with us if you are concerned about food safety, infection prevention or sanitary conditions of a business in Waterloo Region.

File Searches

A file search consists of any outstanding work orders against: food establishments (restaurants, food retailers), recreational water (swimming pools, spas and hot tubs), personal services settings (hair salons, nail salons, tattoo shops, barber shops), licensed daycares, retirement homes, and long term care facilities.

Lawyers' and realtor's offices may request a file search for the following businesses:

• Food service, e.g. restaurants, take-out, caterers
• Food retailers
• Spas
• Salons
• Piercing and tattooing businesses
• Recreational water facilities
• Overnight camps
• Small drinking water systems

Owner consent must accompany the request.

• For a file search the fee is $99.00 (HST included)
• For a file search and on-site inspection, the fee is $185.00

Cheques are to be made payable to “Region of Waterloo Public Health” or simply “Region of Waterloo”. Cheques and requests can be sent by courier or mailed to one of the addresses below depending on the location of the search.
