Help Paying Rent

If you are at-risk of losing your home because of a missed rent payment or you are experiencing homelessness and can't afford the last month's rent deposit, you may qualify for assistance.

Who is eligible

You may qualify for help with paying your rent or securing your new place with a rent deposit if:

• You have a low income and are at-risk of eviction or homeless;
• You are 16 years of age or older;
• You live in Waterloo Region; and
• Your rent is sustainable for you over the longer term.

Assistance is given as either a grant or a loan, depending on your situation. You don't have to receive social assistance to be eligible.

How to apply

Drop in to see a Housing Advisor at Lutherwood or visit a Region of Waterloo office below. Region offices are open Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and can be reached by calling 519-575-4400.
